Do the gems look like the ones in the picture?
Yes, the picture represents actual stones hand picked in our mining bucket. Every mining bucket will be different as there are not two stones alike. Type of gemstones, sizes, and quantities will vary in every mining bucket.
Are the gemstones/crystals real?
Yes, all of our gemstones/crystals are real.
Can we use this kit more than one time?
Our mining buckets can be re-used over and over again. Place your stones in the reusable bucket, add dirt, shake, and relive the fun over and over again.
What other things can I use as a mining tool?
If you do not purchase one of our sifters a common kitchen sifter/colander can be used to separate the gemstones/crystals from the mining rough. We suggest using a plastic container filled with water to go through the material. A dry cloth can be used to dry the gemstones.
Can I send this to my child's school for studying rocks and minerals?
Yes, this can be used as a school activity. Many of our local schools have purchased our mining buckets to teach students about rocks and minerals. We have had positive reviews from both teachers and students.
Would this be ok for a 3 year old to do?
In our experience kids over the age of 4 tend to do well mining for crystals. Not all children are the same and we recommend that all children be supervised by an adult during the activity. There are small stones in the kit which can be a choking hazard.
Do multiple kits contain identical items?
All kits are different. Stones, sizes, color, and quantity will vary. No two kits are the same. We always carry a minimum of 20 different types of crystals/gemstones in stock. Due to supply and transportation from mines, we are always changing the types of stones you will find in our mining buckets.
Is this made in the USA?
While all stones are from different parts of the United States and the world, we assemble these kits in Miami, Florida USA. All gemstones/crystals are hand-picked to ensure that we send the best quality stones in our mining buckets.
How long does it take the children to find all of the gemstones?
Depending on the size of the bucket you can expect your child to be busy for about 30 minutes to an hour or more. Every child is different. We recommend scooping up a handful at a time and mine little by little. Do not dump the entire bucket in the water. Enjoy the process!
For two kids, would it be best to buy two kits? Or is it easy to share one bucket?
We consider the 3 pound bucket as a personal bucket. The 8 and 10 pound bucket can be shared but good luck splitting the gemstones/crystals between two…lol

Bought this for my niece’s 4th birthday. She loves rocks and this was a huge hit! Her and her 7yo sister spent a good 45 minutes digging in the sand. We got all the gems out and then they came back later to play with the sand some more.
Guys packed it full and everything in it was amazing! I did steal all of her pyrite though for a Smaug horde.
Absolutely loved it! The grandkids had so much fun. The variety of stones was amazing!!! Would definitely order again!
