Boulder opals are a rare type of opal that comes out of Queensland, Australia. They are a striking type of opal that is starting to gain popularity among Australian opal lovers. The boulder opal differs from other types of opals in that it has a more intense crystal pattern than its counterparts.
The name boulder opal refers to the way in which these minerals are formed; unlike black opals, which primarily form in igneous vugs and cracks, boulder opals form in sedimentary ironstone concretions.
With Boulder opals you don’t have to worry about the long, tedious process of cleaning and setting the stone. Boulder opals are stable and ready to be put on display! All you need to do is limit exposure to harsh light, like sunlight. This is good practice for most natural gemstones.
Each opal is unique and will vary in various rich colors, shapes, and sizes. The opal you will receive is the exact same one in the pictures and video above.
